Stanford scientists test 'Closed-Loop' brain zapping to target depression

NCT ID NCT04142320

Summary

This study is testing a new, personalized approach to brain stimulation for people with depression who haven't been helped by medication. Researchers are using a technique called rTMS, which uses magnetic pulses to stimulate the brain, but this time they are measuring brain activity in real-time to try and customize the treatment for each person. The goal is to see if this 'closed-loop' method works better than the standard one-size-fits-all approach.
