New strip test could speed up infection diagnosis in liver patients

Summary
This study tested a simple strip test called PeriScreen to quickly diagnose infections in the belly fluid of people with cirrhosis. The goal was to see if the strip works as well as standard lab tests to find infections early. Over 600 adults with cirrhosis and ascites took part. If accurate, this test could help doctors start treatment faster and save lives.
