Summary

This study tested whether adding a palliative care team to standard surgeon-led care improves quality of life for patients undergoing major upper gastrointestinal cancer surgery. About 379 patients and their family members took part. The approach focused on co-managing symptoms and emotional well-being before and after surgery.
