First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at whether intensive treatment for gum disease (periodontitis) could slow memory loss in older adults with mild cognitive impairment and narrowed neck arteries. Researchers planned to compare intensive gum therapy to standard care in 26 people aged 65 and older. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
