Gum treatment study probes hidden protein clues
NCT ID NCT06727929
First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looked at 99 adults with healthy gums, gingivitis, or periodontitis to see how non-surgical gum cleaning changes two proteins (Dkk-1 and sFRP5) in the fluid around teeth. Researchers measured these proteins before and after treatment to understand their link to gum inflammation and bone loss. The goal was to learn if these proteins could help predict gum disease activity, not to test a new treatment.
