New gum surgery technique aims to save healing tissue
NCT ID NCT05533528
First seen Mar 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study compares a new, less invasive surgical method for treating advanced gum disease to the standard approach. The new method uses a single incision to preserve blood supply and keep granulation tissue (which helps healing) in place. Fifty adults with deep gum pockets that didn't fully respond to initial cleaning will be followed for 12 months to see if the new technique leads to better gum attachment and faster healing.
