First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated Apr 26, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at how gum disease and smoking change certain proteins (inflammasomes) in your saliva. Researchers will compare these proteins in people with healthy gums, those with gum disease, and smokers. The goal is to find a simple saliva test that could help diagnose gum disease earlier and more accurately.
