Gum disease detection: could a questionnaire replace the Dentist's probe?
NCT ID NCT07397104
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study aims to see if a self-reported questionnaire can accurately identify gum disease (periodontitis and gingivitis) compared to a standard dental exam. About 291 adults in Saudi Arabia will fill out the questionnaire and then receive a same-day clinical examination. The results will help determine if the questionnaire is a reliable, low-cost tool for screening gum disease in large populations.
