Could a simple injection unfreeze your shoulder?
NCT ID NCT07134010
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This pilot study tests whether perineural injection therapy (PIT) can reduce pain and improve movement in adults with frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis). 24 participants will either receive weekly PIT injections plus physiotherapy, or physiotherapy alone. Researchers will track pain, range of motion, and side effects for three months after treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- perineural injection therapy (PIT)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a new, non-surgical option to ease pain and improve mobility in people with frozen shoulder.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small pilot study (24 people) with no blinding, so results may not be reliable or apply to everyone. The treatment is also not yet standard, and side effects are still being tracked.
