Vitamin d levels in gum fluid may predict implant trouble
NCT ID NCT07280754
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will measure vitamin D and a natural antimicrobial peptide called LL-37 in the fluid around dental implants. Researchers want to see if these levels can help detect early signs of peri-implantitis or mucositis. The study includes 72 adults aged 18-65 who have had implant-supported prostheses for at least one year. If successful, it could lead to earlier diagnosis and better management of these common implant complications.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to earlier diagnosis of peri-implant diseases, potentially reducing treatment costs and improving outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study with only 72 participants, so results may not apply broadly. It measures biomarkers, not treatments, so direct patient benefit is not guaranteed.
