Digital tool helps doctors pick safer antibiotics for penicillin allergy patients
NCT ID NCT07604597
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a digital decision support tool for doctors treating hospitalized patients who report a penicillin allergy. Most people who think they are allergic to penicillin are not actually allergic, but they often receive less effective antibiotics. The tool helps doctors assess allergy risk and choose the best antibiotic according to hospital guidelines. The study included 182 adults and aimed to see if the tool increased the use of penicillin-type antibiotics.
