New combo treatment may offer longer hip pain relief without surgery
NCT ID NCT07360093
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two treatments for chronic hip pain caused by osteoarthritis: a nerve block alone versus a nerve block plus pulsed radiofrequency. About 84 adults with hip pain lasting at least 3 months will be enrolled. The goal is to see if adding radiofrequency provides better and longer pain relief and improves hip function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block and pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) procedure
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a longer-lasting, non-surgical option for managing chronic hip pain from osteoarthritis.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (84 people) comparing two procedures, so results may not apply widely. The nerve block only helps those who respond well, and adding PRF may not provide extra benefit.
