First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a PENG nerve block to standard spinal anesthesia can lower the risk of postoperative delirium (sudden confusion) in adults 75 and older having hip replacement surgery. About 180 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either spinal anesthesia alone or spinal anesthesia plus the PENG block. The goal is to see if better pain control and less opioid use can help prevent confusion after surgery.
