Pre-surgery pelvic training may stop bowel woes after rectal cancer treatment
NCT ID NCT03876561
First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether doing pelvic floor exercises with biofeedback before rectal cancer surgery could prevent a common side effect called Low Anterior Resection Syndrome (LARS), which causes bowel control issues. The study planned to include 120 adults aged 18-80 undergoing surgery for rectal cancer. However, the study was terminated early, so results are limited.
