New hope for At-Risk LGBTQ+ youth: peers step in to prevent suicide
NCT ID NCT07214233
Summary
This study is testing whether peer support specialists—people with similar life experiences—can help LGBTQ+ youth who are at risk of suicide or self-harm. The program aims to connect 60 youth, aged 12-17, who are involved in systems like child welfare or juvenile justice, with tailored support to improve their engagement in mental health services. Researchers will measure changes in suicidal thoughts, depression, and feelings of recovery to see if this peer-led approach is helpful and acceptable.
