Veterans helping veterans: new program aims to break cycle of homelessness and hospital visits

NCT ID NCT07309224

Summary

This study is testing two different ways to roll out a support program for homeless veterans who have mental health or substance use issues. The program connects veterans with trained peer supporters who help them engage with healthcare services and create personal health plans. Researchers want to see which implementation method works better at getting veterans to use primary care, mental health services, and substance use treatment, with the goal of reducing emergency room visits and hospital stays.
