First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a peer-facilitated program (Peer-RESIM) for adults who have had a first episode of psychosis. The program includes 10 sessions over 4 months, led by trained peer support workers, to help participants improve self-care and recovery. Researchers will compare this to standard education and usual care, following 198 participants for 18 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Peer-facilitated, Recovery-based Self-illness-management programme (Peer-RESIM)
What this could lead to
If successful, this program could offer a practical, peer-supported way to help people with first-episode psychosis manage their condition and improve daily functioning.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage trial (198 participants) testing a behavioral intervention, so results may not apply broadly. The program requires active participation and may not work for everyone.
