Summary

Researchers are developing a program called Mindful Peer Coach for adolescent and young adult cancer survivors. The program pairs six weekly video coaching sessions with text-message check-ins to help survivors build a mindfulness habit using the Happier Meditation app. A small pilot study will track how often survivors use the app and measure changes in depression, anxiety, stress, sleep, and overall wellbeing. The goal is to see whether peer support makes a digital mindfulness program easier to stick with.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
a peer-supported mindfulness program combining weekly video coaching sessions and text check-ins with a meditation app
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give young cancer survivors a low-cost, peer-driven way to stick with mindfulness practice and manage anxiety, depression, and sleep problems after treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a tiny pilot study of 13 people designed mainly to test whether the program is practical and acceptable, not whether it truly improves mental health. Any symptom improvements seen here would be early and could fade in a larger, controlled trial.
