Can creatine and weight training rebuild strength after head and neck cancer?
NCT ID NCT07838090
First seen Sep 24, 2026 · Last updated Sep 25, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers are testing a 10-week resistance training program, with or without creatine monohydrate supplements, in adults who recently finished curative treatment for head and neck cancer. The trial aims to see if the program is feasible and safe, and whether it improves body composition, physical function, fatigue, and quality of life. About 30 participants will be enrolled.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Creatine monohydrate supplement combined with a supervised resistance training program
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a low-cost way to help head and neck cancer survivors regain strength and reduce fatigue after treatment.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study of 30 people, so it may not show clear benefits or apply to all survivors. Creatine can cause stomach upset, and exercise may be challenging during recovery.
