Doctors probe hidden link between breathing support and organ stress
NCT ID NCT07452952
Summary
This study aims to understand how different pressure settings on a breathing machine affect blood flow congestion in the body's veins for patients with severe lung failure (ARDS). Researchers will look back at medical records and ultrasound scans from about 30 critically ill patients to see if higher ventilator pressure worsens congestion in the liver and kidneys. The goal is to gather knowledge to help guide future ventilator use, not to test a new treatment.
