First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at whether children with severe infectious shock develop immune suppression, similar to what is seen in adults. Researchers measured immune markers in 105 children admitted to intensive care and compared them to healthy children having surgery. The goal was to understand how the immune system responds and whether this affects recovery and risk of further infections.
