Can a 6-Minute slide show change how women view childbirth?
NCT ID NCT07657663
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a fast-paced, visual presentation style called Pecha Kucha can influence birth beliefs and preferences among first-time mothers who are considering an elective C-section without a medical reason. Seventy-six pregnant women between 28 and 32 weeks of pregnancy receive either the Pecha Kucha-based education or a traditional oral presentation with the same content. Researchers measure changes in how women view childbirth as a natural versus medical process and their preferred delivery method, right after the session and again one month later.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Pecha Kucha-based normal birth education
What this could lead to
If effective, this brief educational approach could help reduce unnecessary cesarean sections by strengthening women's belief in natural childbirth.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center trial with 76 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is educational, so any effect on actual delivery choices remains uncertain.
