Ultrasound scans aim to make C-Sections safer for moms

NCT ID NCT07335172

Summary

This study aims to use a bedside ultrasound to measure how much food and liquid is in the stomachs of healthy pregnant women before they have a scheduled cesarean section. Researchers want to understand how different fasting times affect stomach contents to help prevent a rare but serious complication where stomach contents can enter the lungs during anesthesia. The goal is to gather information that could lead to more personalized safety guidelines for mothers undergoing C-sections.
