Heart drug camzyos may do more than clear Blockages—New study investigates

NCT ID NCT07120776

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether the heart medication Camzyos (Mavacamten) can improve blood flow to the heart muscle in people with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). Researchers will use special PET-CT scans to measure blood flow before and after 12 months of treatment. Up to 75 adults with HOCM who are already starting Camzyos as part of their routine care will take part. The goal is to see if the drug helps reduce chest pain and shortness of breath by improving oxygen supply to the heart.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Camzyos (Mavacamten)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that Camzyos not only relieves obstruction but also improves blood supply to the heart, potentially guiding better treatment for HOCM.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage observational study (75 people) that does not test the drug itself—it only observes effects. Results may not apply to all patients, and the drug's known side effects include heart-related risks.
