First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a virtual reality headset therapy called PAVE for people with chronic vision loss from stroke, traumatic brain injury, or brain surgery. Twenty participants will use the headset three times a week for eight weeks to see if it expands their field of view. The goal is to find a safe, drug-free way to improve daily visual function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
virtual reality visual stimulation device
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-invasive way to partially restore vision in people with long-term visual field loss after brain injury.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early study with only 20 participants and no control group, so results may not be conclusive. The therapy requires frequent sessions and may not help everyone.
