Veterans' own priorities may ease healthcare overload

NCT ID NCT04922320

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested a new approach called Patient Priorities Care in 420 older veterans with multiple health problems. Instead of just following standard medical guidelines, doctors worked with patients to identify what matters most to them—like staying independent or spending time with family—and tailored care accordingly. The goal was to see if this reduces the burden of treatments and helps veterans get services that support their personal goals.
