Summary

This study tested whether giving a mix of glucose, insulin, and potassium (GIK) during abdominal surgery can reduce serious complications in patients who do not have diabetes. 106 adults participated. The goal was to see if a larger study is possible and to gather safety data. Results will help design future research.
