First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a surgical procedure called partial wrist denervation, done at the same time as standard fracture repair, to see if it reduces the chance of long-term wrist pain. Researchers are enrolling 56 adults with severe, shattered wrist fractures. The main goal is to measure pain and function using the Mayo Clinic Wrist Score.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Partial wrist denervation (a surgical procedure that cuts specific nerves in the wrist)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a way to prevent long-term wrist pain after severe fractures, improving daily function.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with no comparison group, so results may not be widely applicable. The procedure itself carries surgical risks like infection or nerve damage.
