Two-Week radiation tested for breast cancer, aims to spare healthy tissue

NCT ID NCT01203839

Summary

This study is testing a shorter, more targeted form of radiation therapy for women with very early-stage breast cancer. Instead of radiating the entire breast for 5-7 weeks, doctors are giving radiation only to the area where the tumor was removed, over just 2 weeks. The main goals are to see if this shorter treatment is safe, if it controls the cancer as well, and how it affects the breast's appearance long-term.
