Brain scans reveal how to make Parkinson's therapy stick
NCT ID NCT04269590
Summary
This study aimed to understand how to help people with Parkinson's disease better remember and retain motor skills they practice. Researchers compared two training methods—practicing a skill alone versus practicing while doing a second mental task—to see which leads to longer-lasting improvements. They used brain scans and tablet-based tasks with 80 participants (40 with Parkinson's and 40 healthy older adults) to see how the brain changes with different types of practice.
