Scientists track brain changes in Parkinson's patients to unlock faster disease clues

NCT ID NCT04228172

Summary

This study follows Parkinson's disease patients with and without a specific gene mutation (GBA) to see how quickly their brain networks change over time. Researchers use brain scans (PET and MRI) to measure these changes, hypothesizing that patients with the GBA mutation experience faster progression. The goal is to better understand disease biology and help design future clinical trials for new treatments.
