Ultrasound opens brain barrier to deliver Parkinson's treatment

NCT ID NCT05565443

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether focused ultrasound can safely open the blood-brain barrier to deliver an enzyme called GCase directly to the brain in Parkinson's patients. The research involves 14 participants with either genetic or non-genetic Parkinson's who will receive the treatment three times over several weeks. The main goal is to check if this delivery method is safe and feasible, building on animal studies that showed potential benefits for Parkinson's symptoms.
