First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a 10-week parenting program called Parenting in 2 Worlds (P2W), designed specifically for urban American Indian families. Researchers will compare it to a general health program in four U.S. cities with 1,440 parent-teen pairs. The goal is to see if P2W improves family relationships and reduces teen substance use, depression, and risky sexual behavior.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Parenting in 2 Worlds (P2W) – a 10-week culturally adapted parenting workshop
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide an evidence-based program to strengthen urban American Indian families and reduce teen substance use, depression, and risky behaviors.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 trial with 1,440 participants, so results are not yet proven. The program relies on self-reported outcomes, which may be biased, and effects may vary across different communities.
