Summary

This study compares two different approaches to help parents of youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities become better advocates for their children's healthcare. Researchers are testing whether a structured advocacy skills curriculum or peer-led learning groups work better to improve both parent and youth health outcomes. The study involves 406 families and measures changes in parent confidence, youth life satisfaction, and healthcare access over 18 months.
