First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested whether paramedics can start treating sepsis right away, instead of waiting until patients reach the hospital. Sepsis is a life-threatening infection that can cause organ failure. Over 2,000 adults with signs of infection, fever, and low blood pressure took part. Paramedics gave some patients early antibiotics and fluids to see if it improved survival compared to usual care.
