Summary
This pilot study tests whether antibiotics alone are as effective as antibiotics plus percutaneous drainage for treating diverticulitis with a large abscess (4-8 cm). Fifty adults with stable vital signs and no signs of peritonitis will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The main goal is to see if hospitals can successfully enroll and follow patients, but the study will also compare how well each treatment resolves the infection within 30 days.
