Targeted radiation blast during surgery aims to stop pancreatic cancer growth
NCT ID NCT03716531
Summary
This study is testing whether delivering a precise, high dose of radiation directly to the tumor during surgery can help control pancreatic cancer in patients whose tumors involve major blood vessels. Participants first receive 3-6 months of chemotherapy and external radiation, then undergo surgery where this targeted radiation (called IORT) is applied. The goal is to see if this combined approach improves survival and keeps the cancer from coming back locally.
