Blood test could spot pancreatic cancer before It's visible

NCT ID NCT02471170

First seen Jul 02, 2026 ยท Last updated Jul 02, 2026

Summary

This study collects blood samples from people with pancreatic diseases to look for markers that might signal pancreatic cancer. The goal is to see if a blood test could detect the cancer earlier than current methods or help track how the disease changes during treatment. Samples will also be stored in a biobank for future research. Participants include patients being evaluated or treated for pancreatic disease, as well as control patients without pancreatic disease.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test that detects pancreatic cancer earlier or helps doctors monitor the disease during treatment.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not find reliable markers, and any potential test would require much larger studies to confirm.
