Radical surgery offers hope for debilitating pancreas pain

NCT ID NCT05453851

Summary

This study is testing a two-part surgery for people with severe, long-term pancreas inflammation (chronic pancreatitis) and non-cancerous tumors. First, the entire pancreas is removed to stop the pain. Then, the patient's own insulin-producing cells are collected and transplanted into their liver, aiming to prevent diabetes. The main goal is to see if this procedure is safe and effective for patients who also have these benign tumors.
