New blood test may spot infections faster after pancreatic surgery

NCT ID NCT07248527

First seen Dec 17, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at a new blood test called ICIS that might help doctors find infections earlier in patients who have had pancreatic surgery. About 400 adults having planned pancreatic procedures will give routine blood samples during their hospital stay—no extra pokes or procedures. By watching how ICIS levels change, researchers hope to improve early infection detection, support safer recovery, and reduce complications after surgery.
