Summary
This study looks at whether cancer patients who are not expected to be cured benefit from being referred to a palliative care team during an emergency room visit. About 240 adults with advanced cancer will be randomly assigned to either standard care or a systematic referral to palliative care. The goal is to see if this approach reduces aggressive treatments and hospital stays near the end of life, aiming for a more comfortable experience.
