Could comfort care revolutionize life with a mechanical heart?
NCT ID NCT07445932
Summary
This study aims to see if adding specialized palliative care (comfort-focused medical care) improves the quality of life for people living with a long-term mechanical heart pump (LVAD). Researchers will enroll 90 patients who have had the pump for at least a year and are not candidates for a heart transplant. Half will receive the new palliative care program alongside their usual care, while the other half will receive usual care alone, to compare the results.
