New nerve block challenges traditional spinal morphine for surgery pain

NCT ID NCT06346860

Summary

This study compared two methods for managing pain after major abdominal surgery. Researchers tested whether a newer nerve block technique could provide pain relief similar to a standard spinal morphine injection, but with fewer side effects like nausea or breathing problems. The goal was to see which method better controlled pain while reducing the total amount of opioid painkillers patients needed after their operation.
