Numbing sprays tested to ease painful dialysis needles
NCT ID NCT07242157
Summary
This study tested whether two common numbing sprays, lidocaine and benzocaine, could reduce pain and improve satisfaction when patients receive their dialysis needle. It involved 60 adults on regular hemodialysis who were randomly assigned to receive one of the sprays or a placebo before their needle insertion. Researchers measured pain levels and patient satisfaction immediately after the procedure to see which option worked best.
