Common mineral beats drug for surgery pain relief

NCT ID NCT07445451

Summary

This study compared two medications given during surgery to help control pain afterwards. It involved 93 adults having bladder tumor removal under spinal anesthesia. Patients received either magnesium sulfate, dexmedetomidine, or a saline solution during their operation. The magnesium sulfate group experienced less pain after surgery, needed pain medication later, and used less overall pain relief compared to the other groups.
