Numbing shot tested to ease sinus surgery pain

NCT ID NCT02821169

Summary

This study tested if injecting a numbing medicine (ropivacaine) into the nose at the end of sinus surgery helps reduce pain afterward. It was a Phase 3 trial involving 184 patients who had surgery for chronic sinus problems. Researchers compared the injection to a placebo (saltwater) to see which group had less pain and needed fewer painkillers after their operation.
