New nerve block could offer safer pain relief after major abdominal surgery
NCT ID NCT06411795
Summary
This study is testing if a newer pain control method works as well as the current standard for patients having major pancreas surgery. The new method involves injecting long-lasting numbing medicine into the abdominal wall (a rectus sheath block), while the standard method uses a catheter in the spine (an epidural). Researchers want to see if the abdominal block provides similar pain relief with potentially fewer side effects like low blood pressure.
