First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding dexamethasone or magnesium sulfate to a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) could provide longer pain relief after total hip replacement. 66 adults received one of the two combinations via an ultrasound-guided nerve block. The main goal was to see how long it took before patients first asked for additional pain medicine.
