New approach targets heart surgery pain at the source

NCT ID NCT07116343

Summary

This study is testing if a local anesthetic (ropivacaine) delivered directly into the chest cavity through drainage tubes can improve recovery and reduce pain after major heart surgery. It compares this method against a placebo in 116 patients. The goal is to see if this targeted pain relief leads to better overall recovery with fewer side effects than standard pain medications.
