First seen Jun 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study tested whether a nerve block called the serratus anterior plane (SAP) block can reduce pain after heart surgery. 50 adults having heart surgery through a chest incision were randomly assigned to receive either a numbing medicine or a placebo through small tubes placed near the ribs for 3 days. The main goal was to see if a larger study is possible, looking at how many people joined, followed the plan, and completed pain surveys.
